power to the people²

As if the week before one’s wedding isn’t nerve-wracking enough, poor Kate & Todd weren’t even sure their venue was going to have any electricity on their big day! The entire Greater Cincinnati area had gone through its most extensive power outage in history, and things were not looking promising as the week progressed. As it turned out, the frantic alternative plan (involving multiple generators and as much positivity, humor and perspective as possible) did not have to be activated after all, as Krippendorf Lodge was restored to power in the nick of time- the day before the wedding.
If this was the first good omen, everything else certainly seemed to follow, from the perfect weather to the beautiful details and the love and cheer that dominated the entire atmosphere.

Some detail shots highlighting the delicious tone-on-tone palette of varying hues of green (those gorgeous escort cards on the left, by the way, are the work of Blustery Day Design)…

Todd looked breathless as Kate made her way down the aisle, escorted by her mother.

Local band Frequency provided both a fabulous dinner jazz set and an eclectic array of impressive dance music…

I want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding during the past week that I was without power. Obviously, this seriously impacted my daily operations and all but shut me down. In the grand scheme of things, though, it’s silly to complain too much. The weather was mild and there was no rain. We had hot water, candles, battery-operated radios, books, games, food, our health, amazing neighbors, and each other. Now that I am finally up and running again, I appreciate your continued patience as I play a mean game of catch-up. Please be assured that I’m doing my best to minimize the prolonged turnaround times and delays in processing resulting from the blackout.

I’m getting excited to meet my little niece or nephew soon! This weekend I was in Columbus Grove for my sister’s baby shower, camera in tow, of course…

So after seizing our last opportunity for maternity session, it was time to shower baby-to-be with gifts…
