Lauren and Shawn met, fell in love, got engaged and married at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, making their love story a bonafide Miami Merger. The couple exchanged vows at Kumler Chapel, a picture-perfect setting, especially since “getting married in a stony chapel in the woods” was reportedly always a dream of the bride’s…

This was a particularly special day for me personally; it happened to be the date on which my husband and I were married eleven years ago (and I will have to dish about my rockin’ anniversary gift in another post).
I was also pleased to have my first little assistant- my eight-year-old daughter, who was ecstatic about getting to shadow me and be my special helper for the day. She did a great job, too; I couldn’t have asked for more from her!

While she was committed to being part of our “team” for the day and maintained an impressive focus and discipline, I know she was delighted when the bride’s family invited her to leave her inconspicuous little corner (where she’d been quietly holding equipment and having her power snacks and bottled water) to come join them at their table. The bride’s father even escorted her through the buffet line and helped her fix a plate. I mean… how awesome was that? So I just have to give a little shout-out to Ted & Deb for their warm hospitality; it certainly wasn’t expected or necessary, but it made her feel extra-special to feel so included!
We arrived at Kumler bright and early, and along with the documentary detail and preparation shots, got some portraits of the bride and groom individually and with their attendants (the couple wanted to save the big reveal for the actual walk down the aisle).

Some glimpses from the ceremony…

After making their way through the receiving line, it was off to Upham Arch- the legendary site where Shawn proposed to Lauren…

Then back to the chapel for some group portraits…

Finally, we headed over to nearby Hueston Woods for the reception!
