my first flickr wedding

Joel and Olivia (herself a photographer) were the first wedding clients to connect with me via flickr. Their wedding took place on a beautiful, sunny summer afternoon in September, at the Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus, Ohio. The ceremony was held on the West Terrace with the picturesque backdrop of the botanical gardens and sculptor Stephen Canneto’s stunning NavStar. A brunch reception and dance followed at the conservatory’s Palm House. The event was marked by a balance of hip pizzazz and classic elegance. The pink and black theme was well incorporated into the attire and decor- right down to the brilliant stripe-and-polka-dot cake- a signature blend of whimsy and sophistication that reflected the couple’s personal flair.

I love the quirky illustration here on the dressing room tile indicating where to hang the gown.

No, the handcuffs represented on the garter charm don’t have any kinky implications; the charm is a nod to the groom’s profession (Joel is a corrections officer).

Wedding bands aren’t the only symbols of commitment; Olivia has Joel’s initial tattooed on her foot.

setting the mood

There’s nothing like dim lighting and the glow of candles to set the mood for a romantic marriage celebration. Add some pink rose petals and feature a young bride and groom so evidently deeply in love, and it’s like a poetic vision that’s come to life before you. Such was the wedding of Bethany and Aaron, who exchanged vows at dusk at the Charles E. Scripps Dining Hall at Camp Swoneky in Oregonia, Ohio. The bride’s father officiated over the ceremony, which was followed by a cocktail reception and dance (and this was a party that knew how to… well, party).

Just warming up the gear before today’s wedding. My little bedhead was in a photogenic mood.
